Overview

What it does

A launch kit for a Grok Bot Teams admin who wants one Team Bot running an internal Slack support desk.

What the bot does: triages requests it is mentioned on in one internal support channel, drafts answers only from your FAQ file, escalates urgent or uncovered requests to your on-call group in the thread, and posts a daily digest. A stale-thread sweep lists threads waiting too long.

What you get: a download (zip) of the launch kit documents: an admin rollout guide (prerequisites, creating and publishing the bot, Slack connection, Manage Team Bots, linking teammate accounts, routine permissions, safety settings, a 1-week pilot, and rollback), paste-in bot setup messages with skills and routines, a FAQ template, an escalation policy, a channel checklist, a draft team announcement, and example prompts. You create the Team Bot yourself from these files.

Who it is for: team admins at 5 to 50 person companies on a Grok Bot Teams or Enterprise plan, with a Slack workspace where they can install apps or get admin approval.

What it never does: it never closes tickets or posts in customer-facing channels without approval unless a named admin (listed by you in the bot's rules) opts in, never shares private DMs, and never invents answers that are not in your FAQ. These are instructions to the bot, not platform locks, so the guide also covers Auto-review and narrow channel access.

Good to know: each teammate must link their Slack account, and per the Grok Bot docs a teammate's chats use their own allowance while routines bill whoever created them. Microsoft Teams is not covered. The kit uses one bot and does not rely on bots messaging each other.

Status: Not yet run on Grok Bot. Setup steps were checked against xAI's Grok Bot docs and changelog on 2026-10-24.

  • Single Team Bot for one internal Slack support channel, mention-only to start
  • Triage block per request: type, urgency P1-P4, FAQ match, next step
  • Draft answers from your FAQ file only, with the FAQ entry cited
  • In-thread escalation to your on-call group with a backup step
  • Daily digest and stale-thread sweep routines
  • Won't-do rules; only admins you name can turn on the auto-close and customer-post opt-ins
  • Admin rollout guide with a 1-week pilot plan and rollback steps
  • Plain-language instructions for non-technical admins

Setup

Ready in 9 steps

  1. Unzip the kit, then fill in the FAQ template and escalation policy
  2. Create the bot with New chat then Create new Team Bot and paste the setup messages from team-bot/BOT_SETUP.md
  3. Publish it to your team with Publish to team
  4. Add the FAQ file and save the three skills
  5. Choose Bring to your team's Slack and connect your workspace (Slack admin approval may be needed)
  6. Invite the bot to one internal support channel
  7. Ask pilot teammates to link their Slack accounts under Settings → General → Team Bots (wording may vary by account)
  8. Create the digest and sweep routines from your own chat, then ask the bot to list them to check the schedules (pause, resume, change, or delete them later the same way, by asking in chat; if the bot can't, a named admin can unpublish or stop the Team Bot). Not yet tested on platform. If asking in chat doesn't work, open the bot's info pane (click its name in the chat header) and use its Routines list.
  9. Run the 1-week pilot, then keep, change, or roll back
